Saltburn Area Guide
Prior to 1860, only old Saltburn existed – which sat next to where the very nice Ship Inn pub still lies. The discovery of Iron Ore in the mid 1800’s completely transformed Saltburn’s fortunes and cemented the town to become one of the Norths most beautiful seaside resorts. Investment saw the construction of beautiful Victorian houses on the cliff tops, all of which boast amazing sea views.
There is still plenty of evidence of days gone by in Saltburn today, an award winning pier for example as well as the oldest operating water balanced cliff lift in the UK. For the thrill seekers, there’s also a miniature railway, valley gardens and excellent surfing.
Today there are a number of suburbs further away from the coast, which are perfect for young families. Large detached homes can cost anything from £380k to £500k, whilst semis are available from 130k and flats from £75k.
